“When Every Step Was a Vow”: Britt Stewart and Daniel Durant’s Magical Wedding Transforms Into a ‘DWTS’ Family Affair, Blending Romance, Applause, and Standing Ovations of Love
"Dancing with the Stars” pro Britt Stewart and actor Daniel Durant tied the knot on August 23 in Santa Margarita, California. The beautiful ceremony was attended by Stewart’s “DWTS” family, including dancers Jenna Johnson, Rylee Arnold, Ezra Sosa, Emma Slater, Alan Bersten, Daniella Karagach, Brandon Armstrong, Witney Carson, and co-hosts Julianne Hough and Alfonso Ribeiro
Derek Hough was in attendance as well, and his wife Hayley Erbert served as Stewart’s maid of honor. Figure skater Johnny Weir, Stewart’s dance partner for season 29 of the show, served as a bridesmaid.
Durant, who starred in the Oscar-winning film “CODA,” invited his co-stars from the movie, Marlee Matlin and Troy Kotsur.
Britt Stewart & Daniel Durant’s Wedding Theme Was ‘Connection’
Stewart and Durant, who met in 2022 when they were partnered together for season 31 of “DWTS,” both wanted their nuptials to be about “connection.”
“I was never the little girl that had big dreams of a fairy-tale wedding,” Stewart shared with People. “So when I describe our wedding, I want it to feel like an abundance of love connecting everyone there!”
She went on to excitedly say, “I never could imagine what my wedding would be like and it still feels a little bit like a dream. But it’s real. It’s happening!”
“Our vision for our wedding was to really celebrate and experience the love that we have created and continue to create with each other!” the dancer continued.
The Couple’s Ceremony Was Romantic & Emotional
According to Durant, who was born deaf, Stewart understood him from the start. When the couple first met Stewart was honing her sign language skills, which put the actor at ease.
“Before, my interpreter … he’d be there interpreting for us at practice, and now he fades away during practice and it’s nice,” Durant shared with Us Weekly at the time, adding, “She understands me.”
The couple’s connection grew deeper over time and their wedding ceremony highlighted their immense love for one another. “I just can’t wait to call Britt my wife,” Durant told People ahead of the wedding. “I want to show off that I’m all Britt’s!”
Stewart and Durant exchanged their vows in American Sign Language with a twist that made them all the more special. “I also asked my childhood interpreter, Doug Boen-Bailey, to interpret for me at the wedding,” Durant shared. “It feels full circle to have him interpret in this monumental moment in my life.”
The couple appeared to be over the moon in love with each other, and Stewart had nothing but praise for her new husband. “My soul has been waiting for his! I love that he is unique in every way possible and will surprise me every day for the rest of my life,” she said. “Our life together brings me so much joy. Daniel calms my nervous system and he is home.”
