"Shane Steichen’s Bold Move Pays Off: Colts Dominate in Week 1, Eyeing Championship Glory!"
Shane Steichen is already proving he’s a head coach willing to make bold moves—and in his first game of the 2025 season, that decisiveness delivered a stunning 33-8 victory over the Miami Dolphins.
The biggest headline of Week 1 wasn’t quarterback Daniel Jones’ dazzling performance, but rather Steichen’s gutsy decision to bench rookie Anthony Richardson in favor of Jones. While the move raised eyebrows, it paid off in a big way. Jones, completing 22 of 29 passes for 272 yards and a 27-yard touchdown to Michael Pittman Jr., showed the kind of leadership and efficiency the Colts have been searching for. He also added two rushing touchdowns, accounting for 26 rushing yards, including a pivotal 11-yard scamper.
Under Steichen’s guidance, the Colts’ offense looked unstoppable. With 418 total yards (262 passing and 156 rushing) and 27 first downs, Indianapolis completely dominated time of possession, holding the ball for 38:43 while the Dolphins barely had it for 21:17. Steichen’s offense controlled the game from start to finish, and the Colts' defense played its part, forcing three turnovers from Miami’s quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.
Sports Illustrated's Gilberto Manzano called Steichen a "winner" after Week 1, and for good reason. The Colts' performance was a complete team effort, and the coach’s game plan left Miami scrambling. With Jonathan Taylor running the ball effectively and rookie tight end Tyler Warren showing promise, the offense looked balanced and dangerous.
Steichen reflected on his decision and the team’s performance after the game, saying, “I’m not afraid to make tough decisions, and today, it paid off. Daniel was outstanding, but this is just the start. We’re not just aiming for the playoffs—we’re going for a championship, and I’ll do whatever it takes to get there.”
The victory over the Dolphins not only marked a dominant start to the season, but it also ended a decade-long streak of losing in Week 1 for the Colts. Now, with momentum on their side, Indianapolis is eyeing bigger goals—winning the AFC South and making a playoff push for the first time since 2020.
The road ahead won’t be easy. Next up are the Denver Broncos, led by head coach Sean Payton, who will provide a far tougher challenge for Steichen’s offense. But with Jones at the helm and Steichen pulling the strings, the Colts are looking like a team that could make serious noise in the AFC.
If Week 1 is any indication, Indianapolis is headed in the right direction—and Steichen’s bold move may just be the catalyst that propels them to championship glory.

"Andrei Markov Returns Home: Canadiens to Honor Legendary Defenceman on December 3"

The Montreal Canadiens are set to honor one of the most iconic figures in their history—Andrei Markov. On Wednesday, December 3, the Bell Centre will host a special “homecoming” ceremony before the game against the Winnipeg Jets, celebrating Markov’s remarkable 16-year tenure with the team.
Markov’s legacy with the Canadiens is undeniable. Over the course of 990 games, the Russian defenceman posted an impressive 119 goals, 453 assists, and 572 points. His playmaking ability, leadership, and consistency on the ice made him a fan favorite and one of the most respected figures in Montreal. Markov wasn’t just a key player on the ice, but the backbone of the team’s defense during his time with the franchise. His name will forever be etched in Canadiens history.
The tribute comes after a few years of bittersweet distance, following a contract dispute with then-general manager Marc Bergevin. After the 2016-17 season, Markov’s request for a two-year contract was met with only a one-year offer from Bergevin, leading Markov to leave Montreal for Russia, where he signed with Ak Bars Kazan in the KHL.
Markov’s time in the KHL was nothing short of successful. In his first season with Kazan, he helped the team win the Gagarin Cup, and in his second season, he continued to shine with 2 goals and 12 assists. But Markov never lost his desire to return to Montreal and reach the milestone of 1,000 career games with the Canadiens.
Despite his best efforts and hiring Allan Walsh as his agent in 2019, Markov’s request for a one-year contract was denied by the Canadiens. Instead, Markov concluded his playing career with Lokomotiv Yaroslavl in the KHL, retiring after one final season.
Reflecting on his time with the Canadiens, Markov shared, “Montreal will always be my home. I was fortunate to play here for 16 years, being part of this team and this city. Even though things have ended, my love and loyalty to the Canadiens will never change. Thank you all for always supporting me, and I’m proud to be a part of this team’s history."
Now, Markov will return to Montreal for one final tribute. Fans will have the opportunity to celebrate his unparalleled impact on the team and the city, paying homage to the player who became a pillar of the franchise.
The December 3 ceremony will not only be a celebration of Markov’s illustrious career but also a reminder of the mark he left on the Canadiens, forever a part of their legacy. As the Bell Centre lights up, it will be a moment of reflection, appreciation, and pride for all who followed Markov’s journey from start to finish.
